Ai Iijima


Ai Iijima (born in Mitsuko Ishii, 1972) made her first debut in late teens, and starred in over 100 of videos before retiring from the p business. Ai then became a mainstream TV celebrity, appearing in various variety and talk shows.
She later entered into the A Video business and became a big star but quit by the age of 20. After this, she crossed over into mainstream television variety shows, one of the few “talent” so far to successfully make such a transition. She is now an established celebrity on Japanese television, appearing in travel, lifestyle, game shows, and quiz shows.

Ai Iijima then created lots of controversy in 2000 with her semi-autobiographical novel, “Platonic Sex,” which revealed her rather painful teen years.

Some famous authors were ridiculing the book initially, but the book still managed to become a bestseller, and was made into TV series.
